What is the project?

Powerhouse Theater, The Loeb, and Performing Art invite performing artists ages 18 and up to join us in a 3-day devised theater workshop that culminates in a short presentation that is open to the public. This workshop-performance will be developed under the direction of Liz Dahmen. 

Performing Art is a highly collaborative performance project that brings together an ensemble of creators to explore the relationship between visual and performing art. This devised production takes inspiration from the works currently on display at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center. Performers will respond to the artwork through the kaleidoscope of their lived experiences and create a site-specific one-of-a-kind performance inside the gallery.

What is the time commitment?

THURSDAY JUNE 26 5pm - 7pm Meet & Greet

FRIDAY JUNE 27 1 - 5pm Workshop Rehearsal 1

SATURDAY JUNE 28 11 - 5pm Workshop Rehearsal 2

SUNDAY JUNE 29

• 10am - 1pm Workshop Rehearsal 3

• 2pm, 2:30 & 3pm Performances

Who can participate?

Anyone who has an interest in the intersection of visual and performing art is encouraged to participate. Actors, musicians, dancers, composers, singers, poets, and writers will work together under the direction of Liz Dahmen to make a short, live performance that we share with the public on June 28th in the exhibition halls of the museum. 

What is required?

Attendance at workshop-rehearsals and the final performance are required to participate in the production. No prior performance experience is necessary. If you cannot attend the full workshop, but would still like to participate, just indicate your availability on the Project Sign Up Form.
