Performing Art | Body Matters

Powerhouse Theater Season, Loeb Gallery, 2023
Vassar College

Description

Created over the course of just 16 hours of rehearsal, the ensemble embraced a line from the Body Matters exhibit as our guiding question; "How do bodies move through art, space, and time?" We invited audiences to ponder this question as they traveled through the performance. Using hand-made arrow-shaped props that were visually inspired by a piece in the exhibit, actors ushered audiences through the galleries, pointing their attention from piece to piece. This production used scenework to call attention to the museum-goers experience. Taking advantage of the piano in the center of the main gallery, we used sound and movement to open and close the piece.
